MAYA SACRED WISDOM WORKSHOPS

The time of the Maya is now, as their visionary calendar approaches its end-date in 2012. This signifies the transition into a new era and a major transformation is predicted for the planet. Miguel Angel Vergara Calleros has spent over 25 years studying the Maya Sacred Wisdom and during these weekend workshops, through a series of lectures, discussions, meditations, chants, and ceremonies, he will share the riches the Maya left to help us navigate through these rapidly changing times.

The workshops begin on Saturday with Miguel Angel explaining the Maya Cosmovision, their perception of the universe and their place in it. Using the 13 Maya Sacred Salutations, the Sacred Cardinal Corners of the Cosmos, the Maya Lords, colours, elements, offerings, Sacred Maya Prayers and Ancient Maya Mantras, Miguel Angel will teach you how the Maya create Sacred Space for their rituals and ceremonies.

Miguel Angel will then introduce you to the Mayan Calendars. The Maya worked with not one but a series of precise, sophisticated calendars, including a Lunar Calendar of 260 days, a Solar Calendar of 365 days, and the Long Count Calendar which ends in the year 2012. Each one had a purpose and was an important part of life in the Ancient Maya world.

As the year 2012 approaches there is more and more interest in the Maya Prophecies. Miguel Angel will discuss the Prophecies from various viewpoints including some of the unknown Maya teachers such as; Don Vicente Martin, Don José Escamilla, Don Pedro K’u, and Don Florencio Chan, who speak of the prophecies from the oral traditions passed down from their Maya ancestors.

On Sunday, Miguel Angel will lead you in a Sacred Maya Ceremony. Evoking the Maya Gods and Goddesses, inviting the Lords of the 4 directions, Mother Earth, Father Sky, burning copal, blowing the conch shell, chanting the ancient mantras, Miguel Angel will guide you through the magic of an ancient Maya Ceremony with the purpose of connecting with Mother Earth and raising consciousness for personal healing and the much needed healing of our planet.

July 6 – 11
Maya Cosmovisión I
This course is the study and understanding of the ancient Maya’s cosmic vision of the universe. Discover how their profound connection with the Heart of the Sky and the Heart of the Earth can bring balance and harmony to you in these changing and uncertain times.

July 20 – 25:
Mayan Calendars and Prophecies
This week-long course will help you understand the marvelous wisdom built into the calendars and their connection with the Mayan Prophecies for 2012. Discover the true message of hope for the planet and humankind within these Prophecies.

August 3 – 8:
Maya – Atlantis Connection
The ancient cosmic cities of Atlantis are still to be found in the land of the Mayab. This week you will learn to identify the various signs of Atlantis in the Maya sites and interpret them to receive the lessons waiting for you there.

August 17 – 22:
Traditional Maya Medicine I
Learn Maya healing philosophy, techniques, and practices in this six day program. It is intended for healers looking to increase their knowledge and skills as well as for individuals looking for healing for their bodies, their communities, and the planet.

MCU COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Maya Cosmovisión I 
This course is the study and understanding of the ancient Maya’s cosmic vision of the universe.  During the week you will go deeply into the study of OX-LAHUN-TIKU (the 13 heavens) and the symbolism of BOLONTIKU (the 9 dimensions of the earth) known as XIBALBA.

You will learn about the five directions of the Maya cosmos, their lords (BAKABES), their colors, their offerings, their orientation, and the sacred elements of each one of these directions.

You will be taught and get an opportunity to practice the 13 Maya Cosmic Salutations to the Universe and the way to call the Heart of the Sky and the Heart of the Earth, to unite the great heart of the Sun in the sky with Mother Nature.

Atlantis – Maya Connection 
The ancient cosmic cities of Atlantis are still to be found in the land of the Mayab. The knowledge of Atlantis is found in the Maya temples and pyramids and in the sacred Maya books (codices) where the hieroglyphs tell us of Atlantis, “The City of the Transparent Crystals”.  Itzamna, “The Dew of the Sky”, came to the Mayab from Atlantis bringing its great knowledge with him and leaving it in the Maya pyramids as a great gift for humankind; a gift of spiritual rebirth.

Throughout the week-long course you will learn to identify the various signs of Atlantis in the Maya sites and learn how to interpret them to receive the lessons waiting for you there.  Through meditations and practices you can then call up your personal memories of Atlantis.

Maya Calendars 
The dimensions of time and space, the movement of our solar system, the movements of the planets Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, the eclipses of the sun and the moon, the movement of the comets or “smoking stars” were all written by the Maya in their calendars using the number, measure, and observation of the heavenly bodies then capturing and incorporating all this great knowledge into their three best known calendars; the TZOLKIN (260 day lunar calendar), the HAAB (365 solar calendar), and the LONG COUNT (Katunes and Batktunes calendar). 

To understand this marvelous wisdom and its meaning is one of the main purposes of this week-long course.

Sacred Rituals and Ceremonies of the Ancient Maya
“To create a union between the Maya deities and man” using the teachings that join man with the Cosmos and Nature. To meet with the Spirits of Light that are living in each and every manifestation of life was the essence of the sacred teachings left by the Maya in all of their rituals and ceremonies.

Spend the week learning about sacred rituals and ceremonies of the ancient Maya.  Learn to understand the meaning and purpose behind these practices and then participate in some of these ceremonies that are still performed today.
